SBP Announces Revisions to Trade Data; No Major Impact Expected on Current Account

The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has announced revisions to trade data but clarified that no significant changes are expected in the current account figures.

In a statement issued on Monday, the SBP said that in response to recent reports regarding revisions in the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics’ (PBS) trade data, similar adjustments will also be made to the SBP’s trade figures and current account results.

The central bank clarified that its trade data is primarily compiled based on trade payments received through the banking system. Therefore, no significant changes are expected in the already published current account figures, apart from routine minor adjustments.

According to the SBP, this clarification has been issued in the wider public interest.
