Thatta Cement to Assemble and Locally Manufacture Belarus Tractors in Balochistan

Thatta Cement Company Limited has announced that its wholly-owned subsidiary, Minsk Work Tractor and Assembling (Private) Limited (MWTA), has signed an exclusive agreement with OJSC Minsk Tractor Works, Belarus, to assemble and locally manufacture Belarus Tractors in Balochistan.

In a notice sent to the PSX, the company stated that under this agreement, OJSC Minsk Tractor Works has granted exclusive rights to MWTA for the assembly of Belarus Tractors in Balochistan.

Belarus Tractors are robust and simply-designed four-wheel tractors that have been manufactured in Minsk, Belarus, since 1950 and are now exported to over 100 countries. These tractors are periodically upgraded with modern features and can be easily maintained using basic tools.

According to industry sources, the market demand for these tractors is projected to be around 2,800 units over the next five years, reflecting the growing need for high-horsepower machinery for agricultural production and mechanization.

Thatta Cement’s notice stated that the project aims to establish a local tractor assembling factory to promote indigenous industrial development, create employment opportunities, and encourage technology transfer in Balochistan.

The notice further added that this agreement marks a significant strategic development for the company’s subsidiary and is expected to have a positive impact on the long-term growth and diversification of the Thatta Cement Group’s business portfolio.

It is worth noting that Thatta Cement Company Limited (THCCL) was established in Pakistan in 1980 as a public limited company and is involved in the production and marketing of cement, as well as owning Thatta Power (Private) Limited.
