Pakistan Customs, during an anti-smuggling operation, recovered a large quantity of smuggled monosodium glutamate (MSG) that was concealed under the label of citric acid inside a warehouse.
According to details, acting on a confidential tip-off, Customs officials conducted a raid on the United Traders A-1 Warehouse located near Walika Chowrangi. During the operation, it was discovered that bags labeled as citric acid were being used to hide smuggled monosodium glutamate.
A total of 20,000 kilograms of MSG was found hidden inside 800 bags marked as citric acid. The market value of the seized prohibited MSG is estimated at 20.5 million rupees. Additionally, only 100 bags were found containing actual citric acid.
A case has been registered against the suspects, and the seized monosodium glutamate has been taken into custody and shifted to the Customs warehouse.
