Sugar Prices Continue to Rise, Hitting Rs. 229 per Kg in Pakistan

The Ministry of Commerce has prepared the draft of the five-year Textile and Apparel Policy (2025–30), which will soon be pSugar prices in Pakistan continue to surge, reaching as high as Rs. 229 per kilogram in some cities.

According to the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics, Quetta recorded the highest increase over the past week, with sugar prices rising by Rs. 19 per kg, jumping from Rs. 210 to Rs. 229. In Peshawar, the maximum retail price reached Rs. 200 per kg, while in Karachi and Islamabad, sugar was being sold at up to Rs. 195 per kg.

The report further states that in Rawalpindi, the maximum price of sugar stood at Rs. 190 per kg. Despite the spikes in some cities, the average national price of sugar decreased slightly by Rs. 2.01, falling to Rs. 185.47 per kg compared to the previous week’s average of Rs. 187.48.

A year ago, the average price of sugar in Pakistan was Rs. 132.24 per kg, highlighting the significant increase over the past year.
