The Pakistani rupee continued its upward trend against the US dollar in the interbank market on Tuesday.
By the close of trading, the rupee gained one paisa, ending at Rs 280.40 against the dollar.
On the global front, the Japanese yen remained stable during early Asian trading, as investors turned cautious following a strong 7.5-magnitude earthquake that struck Japan’s northeastern region overnight. After the quake, the US dollar held steady against the yen, last recorded at 155.885 yen.
Meanwhile, the US dollar index was last up 0.1% at 99.092, slightly below its one-week high.
