Thatta Cement Approves 7.5 MW Wind Power Project to Boost Renewable Energy Capacity

Thatta Cement Company Limited (TCCL) announced on Wednesday that its Board of Directors has approved the installation of an additional 7.5 MW wind power project.

According to sources, TCCL informed the Pakistan Stock Exchange about this development through an official notice. The notice stated that the directors approved this project following the successful completion and commissioning of the existing 4.8 MW wind power project.

The company noted that upon completion of the new project, its total installed capacity from renewable energy sources will increase to 17.3 MW. This includes two wind power projects (4.8 MW and 7.5 MW) and an existing 5 MW solar power project.

The company further stated that this expansion will significantly increase the share of renewable energy in its overall energy mix and reflects its continued commitment to sustainable environmental practices. Investment in renewable energy projects is expected not only to deliver substantial cost savings but also to help reduce the country’s dependence on fossil fuels.

Alternative energy sources, particularly solar power, are rapidly gaining popularity in Pakistan and have become increasingly adopted across both residential and commercial sectors.
