According to information received from sources, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar has strongly condemned Israel’s move to recognize the Somaliland region as an independent state, calling it an illegal political aggression and a direct attack on Somalia’s internationally recognized borders.
He stated that Pakistan supports Somalia’s territorial integrity. According to sources, while addressing the 22nd Extraordinary Session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Jeddah, Ishaq Dar said that this Israeli action and the provocative visit of an Israeli official to Somaliland set a dangerous precedent, posing serious threats to peace and security in the Horn of Africa, the Red Sea, and adjacent regions.
During the extraordinary session, two resolutions were adopted. The first resolution rejected Israel’s action regarding Somaliland and reaffirmed support for Somalia’s sovereignty, while the second resolution addressed Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people.
Ishaq Dar categorically rejected any proposal for the forced displacement of Palestinians and reaffirmed Pakistan’s principled commitment to the establishment of an independent and sovereign State of Palestine, with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital. He also appreciated the OIC’s continued support on the issue of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir and emphasized the need to intensify efforts for the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination.
In his address, OIC Secretary General Hissein Brahim Taha said that the meeting reflected the united stance of the Muslim Ummah against threats to Somalia’s sovereignty. At the conclusion of the meeting, participants also called for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, Israeli withdrawal, and the return of displaced Palestinians to their homes.
