Gold prices recorded the biggest increase in history on Thursday in both global and local markets, pushing the price of one tola of gold past PKR 570,000 for the first time in Pakistan’s history, while the price of ten grams climbed close to PKR 500,000.
According to reports, gold in the global bullion market surged by a historic USD 212 to reach USD 5,505 per ounce. Due to the sharp rise in international prices, local gold prices also jumped significantly. The price of one tola increased by PKR 21,200 in a single day, reaching a record PKR 572,862 for the first time in the country’s history.
Similarly, the price of ten grams of gold rose by PKR 18,175 to PKR 491,136.
It is worth noting that on Wednesday, the price of one tola of gold had already risen by PKR 21,100 to PKR 551,662.
Meanwhile, silver prices also climbed sharply, with the price of one tola increasing by PKR 264 to reach PKR 12,175, crossing the PKR 12,000 mark for the first time in Pakistan’s history.
