PCDMA Urges FBR to Extend Tax Return Deadline

KARACHI: The Pakistan Chemicals & Dyes Merchants Association (PCDMA) has urged the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) to extend the deadline for filing income tax returns, citing the technical issues with the IRIS online filing portal.

PCDMA Chairman Saleem Mukati said taxpayers needed additional time to complete and submit their returns due to difficulties encountered during the filing process.

PCDMA chief’s demand comes amid growing concerns over delays in the issuance of income tax return forms and persistent technical problems on the FBR’s IRIS portal, which have made it difficult for individuals, traders and businesses to meet the existing deadline.

Saleem Mukati said an extension would allow taxpayers to file their returns accurately and fulfil their legal obligations without being penalized for issues beyond their control.

The association called on the FBR to announce a reasonable extension, stressing that taxpayers should not be disadvantaged by administrative delays or technical disruptions affecting the return submission process.
