KARACHI: Federal Minister for National Food and Security Research Rana Tanveer Hussain assures resolution of issues faced by betel nut importers during exclusive conversation with Tijaratnews in Karachi.
According to details, Federal Minister for National Food and Security Research Rana Tanveer Hussain recently participated in the inauguration ceremony of the Central Plant Quarantine Laboratory in Karachi.
On this occasion, when Trade News highlighted the issues of betel nut smuggling and the problems faced by legal importers, he stated that due to special measures taken to curb betel nut smuggling, smuggling has been significantly reduced.
On the other hand, a structured action plan is being formulated to ensure the provision of all possible facilities to legal betel nut importers and to address their complaints promptly.
As a result, legal import of betel nut will accelerate and its quality will also improve significantly. According to Rana Tanveer, the results of the measures being taken in this regard will become visible to everyone within the next few days, and it is hoped that after the legal import of betel nut is fully restored as in the past, it will play an important role in strengthening the national economy.
On the other hand, officials of the All Pakistan Betel Nut Importers and Manufacturers Association, while welcoming the statement of Federal Minister for Food Rana Tanveer, said that after the Association highlighted the issues of betel nut smuggling and the problems faced by legal importers at a high level, the federal government is taking effective measures in this regard.
In view of this, it is expected that legal importers will soon be freed from these problems.
The Association officials have expressed hope that the recommendations presented by the All Pakistan Betel Nut Manufacturers and Importers Association in this regard will be considered by the federal government, and consultation with the true representatives of legal importers will also be ensured.
The Association officials further stated that the time has come for the difficulties of legal importers to end, and further progress in this regard will be made in the coming days.
