FIR

PESHAWAR: The Collectorate of Customs Appraisement Peshawar has launched a special audit of all financial securities submitted by importers who claimed erstwhile FATA/PATA clearances at the collectorate, officials said.

Under the arrangement, the Regional Tax Office (RTO) Peshawar issues consumption certificates to manufacturer-cum-importers. The Appraisement Collectorate has begun auditing securities from the last three years.

So far, 370 pay orders from various importers have been verified with the concerned banks. Pay orders belonging to four importers/companies have been declared fake.

The collectorate has lodged four First Information Reports (FIRs) against these importers and commenced investigations. Customs officials who were associated with the assigned duties have also been included in the investigations of the four FIRs.

Recovery proceedings have additionally been initiated against the parties involved.

Officials said the collectorate has decided to complete the full audit within the shortest possible time, with all financial securities submitted by importers to be verified and checked.
