In a major step toward financial digitization in Pakistan, the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has introduced a new digital investment platform called InvestPak, aimed at simplifying and digitizing the process of investing in government securities for both individual and corporate investors.
According to the SBP, this web-based portal will allow customers of financial institutions to open digital Investor Portfolio of Securities (IPS) accounts, place bids in primary auctions of government securities, and buy or sell securities in the secondary market — all without visiting any bank or institution physically.
The central bank stated that all individuals, joint account holders, and corporate entities with Pakistani rupee bank accounts can register on InvestPak using their IBAN. If a user does not already have an IPS account, they can apply for one directly through the portal with their chosen financial institution.
Through InvestPak, investors will be able to submit competitive or non-competitive bids in primary auctions of government securities and request live quotes from banks for secondary market transactions. All transactions will automatically appear in the investor’s portfolio, ensuring transparency and accuracy.
The SBP added that government securities auctions on the portal will follow the auction calendar issued by the central bank, and financial institutions will be obligated to facilitate their registered users’ participation in these auctions.
The portal also features an integrated Complaint Management System, allowing users to file and track their complaints online.
The SBP has instructed all banks and primary dealers to enable customer registration on the platform, while microfinance banks have been encouraged to join as well. Banks have been advised to allocate adequate resources to ensure a smooth and efficient user experience.
The InvestPak portal will go live on November 6, 2025, marking a significant milestone in the State Bank’s ongoing efforts to promote digitalization in Pakistan’s financial sector.
