Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Friday offered cooperation to Iran to promote economic growth and bilateral trade, the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) said in a statement.
During a meeting with Iranian Parliament Speaker Dr. Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif expressed Pakistan’s willingness to enhance collaboration in mutually beneficial areas, including economic development and trade.
According to the PMO, Mohammad Baqer, accompanied by his delegation, visited Islamabad to meet the Prime Minister, who welcomed them warmly.
The Prime Minister reaffirmed the commitment to resolve all pending disputes between the two countries through peaceful negotiations and diplomacy. He also conveyed his respect for Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and President Masoud Pezeshkian.
Shahbaz Sharif highlighted that both countries have condemned state-sponsored terrorism and have consistently supported each other during unilateral attacks on their sovereign territories. He acknowledged that unfortunately, both nations have suffered from terrorism.
The Prime Minister emphasized Pakistan and Iran’s shared commitment to work in harmony and cooperation for the unity of the Muslim Ummah.
The Iranian Parliament Speaker thanked the Prime Minister, the government, and the people of Pakistan for their timely and valuable support during the recent Iran-Israel conflict. He noted that Pakistan’s support during the 12-day war was deeply appreciated by the Iranian public.
He affirmed Iran and Pakistan’s strong belief in the unity of the Muslim Ummah and the promotion of global peace. The Iranian Speaker also expressed gratitude to National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq and commended the positive and robust cooperation between the parliaments of both countries.
Additionally, he reiterated Iran’s commitment to further strengthen bilateral cooperation with Pakistan in economic growth and trade. The Iranian Speaker conveyed a message of respect and goodwill from President Pezeshkian to Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif and the Pakistani people, and thanked Pakistan for the warmth and hospitality extended during their visit.
National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq and Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs, Syed Tariq Fatemi, were also present at the meeting.
