According to reports, Pakistan Customs, a department under the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), has recovered 30.5 metric tons of smuggled betel nuts worth more than 250 million rupees, along with four buses.
According to the FBR, the Enforcement Collectorate Gadani, acting on the basis of credible intelligence, carried out an operation near Ashok Pump in Hub district with the assistance of the Frontier Corps and local police. During the operation, 30.5 metric tons of foreign-origin smuggled betel nuts and four passenger buses were seized.
Sources stated that the total value of the seized goods and vehicles has been estimated at approximately 252.5 million rupees. The operation was conducted based on verified intelligence received from the Chief Collector (Enforcement).
According to sources, as soon as law enforcement personnel began the operation, a crowd gathered, creating a situation of disorder and unrest. During the clash, the drivers of the buses managed to flee the scene.
It is worth noting that through the joint efforts of Customs, the Frontier Corps, and the police, the situation was brought under control. Due to the hostile environment and rising tension, the seized vehicles were immediately taken into custody and shifted to the Customs Warehouse in Gadani.
