The Government of Pakistan and SC Financial Technologies, an affiliated company of World Liberty Financial, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). It is worth noting that World Liberty Financial is the main crypto business of the family of former US President Donald Trump.
According to sources, the ceremony was supervised by Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and Chief of Defence Forces, Army Chief Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir. The MoU was signed on behalf of the respective parties by Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb and World Liberty Financial CEO Zachary Witkoff. This development came after a meeting between the World Liberty Financial delegation and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in Islamabad.
Sources said that the important meeting was also attended by Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, Army Chief Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, Special Assistant Syed Tariq Fatemi, and Chairman of the Pakistan Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority Bilal Bin Saqib.
While welcoming the delegation, the Prime Minister highlighted his vision of Digital Pakistan, aimed at enhancing connectivity, accessibility, and transparency for citizens. He said that the rapidly growing pace of digital payments and financial innovation is an essential part of Pakistan’s expanding digital economy. The Prime Minister appreciated the increasing global interest in Pakistan’s digital markets and expressed satisfaction that Pakistan is rapidly becoming part of the global digital finance system.
During the meeting, Zachary Witkoff expressed strong interest in working with Pakistan to develop secure and transparent digital payment infrastructures, including innovation in cross-border settlements and foreign exchange processes. He praised Pakistan’s policy framework, which is helping position the country as an important player in the global digital finance landscape.
Meanwhile, Pakistan is currently considering digital currency initiatives to reduce cash usage and improve cross-border payment systems such as remittances.
