FBR Warns Customs Officers Against Unauthorized Use of Social Media

The Federal Board of Revenue has warned that customs officers and officials who use social media platforms without prior permission or approval from the competent authority will face disciplinary action.

In this regard, the FBR issued an official notification on Monday concerning the use of social media by government employees. According to the FBR’s field formations, it has been noted with concern that officers and staff posted in customs field formations are using social media platforms without obtaining prior authorization from the competent authority, which constitutes misconduct under the Government Servants (Conduct) Rules, 1964.

The FBR has further directed that strict compliance be ensured with the Office Memorandum issued by the Establishment Division regarding the use of social media by government servants.
