The Anti-Corruption Establishment Sindh has further intensified its operations against corruption in Karachi. On the special directives of Provincial Minister Sardar Muhammad Bakhsh Mehr, multiple surprise inspections and raids were conducted in recent days across District Central and other areas. The purpose of these actions is to investigate corruption, mismanagement, and the alleged embezzlement of development funds.
Inspection of Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA), District Central
The Anti-Corruption Establishment, District Central Karachi, carried out a surprise inspection of the Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) District Central office after obtaining prior approval from the competent authority.
The operation was led by Deputy Director Anti-Corruption Central Karachi, Abdul Wahab Talibani.
The inspection was based on several public complaints alleging serious corruption and administrative misconduct by SBCA officials.
During the inspection:
- Certified copies of important government files, records, and relevant documents were obtained.
- The documents were taken into custody in accordance with the law to proceed with further inquiry.
Deputy Director Abdul Wahab Talibani stated:
“Such surprise visits and inspections by the Anti-Corruption Establishment will continue in the future. Any negligence or corruption will not be tolerated under any circumstances.”
Raid on Shah Faisal Town Municipal Corporation
Earlier, the Anti-Corruption Establishment Sindh carried out another major anti-corruption operation in Karachi. On the orders of Provincial Minister for Anti-Corruption Sardar Muhammad Bakhsh Mehr, the District Korangi Anti-Corruption team, led by Deputy Director Adil Ahmed Sohoo, conducted a surprise raid on the Shah Faisal Town Municipal Corporation.
During the raid, detailed inspections were conducted in the following departments:
- Property Tax
- Education
- Land Department
- LTR
- Sanitation
- Parks
- Building and Roads (B&R)
- Road Cutting
- Audit
In addition, officers were questioned regarding development projects, utilization of funds, and budget-related matters.
According to sources, initial investigations have revealed evidence of alleged embezzlement of development funds, fake vouchers, and non-transparent payments. All key government records were taken into custody by the Anti-Corruption team.
Anti-Corruption officials warned that officers of other towns and local government institutions should also remain alert. Those who used development budgets for personal interests or corruption instead of their intended purposes will face action soon.
These continuous and transparent actions by the Anti-Corruption Establishment Sindh are being widely appreciated by civil society, the media, and the public. Citizens believe that if this intensity, speed, and impartiality are maintained, concrete results in eliminating corruption across Karachi and the entire province of Sindh can be achieved.
These operations are part of the provincial government’s ongoing anti-corruption campaign. Recently, it was also decided to take immediate action on thousands of complaints against various departments.
Provincial Minister for Anti-Corruption, Sardar Muhammad Bakhsh Mehr, has made it clear that legal action will be taken against those found guilty after completion of investigations. No one is above the law. He further stated that anti-corruption measures will be made even stricter to ensure the elimination of corruption in Sindh.
