Pakistan Invites Chinese Firms to Minerals Investment Forum 2026, Eyes $6–8 Billion in Exports

To further strengthen Pakistan China economic cooperation under CPEC, the government has formally invited Chinese companies to participate in the Pakistan Minerals Investment Forum 2026, scheduled to be held on April 8 and 9.

Pakistan’s mineral resources have the potential to significantly boost exports, with annual mineral exports of 6 to 8 billion dollars possible in the coming years, according to federal government sources.

This was stated by Federal Ministers Ahsan Iqbal, Ali Pervaiz Malik, and Qaiser Ahmed Sheikh while addressing the Pakistan China Mineral Cooperation Forum in Islamabad. The forum was attended by the Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zaidong, government officials, representatives of Pakistani and Chinese companies, and investors.

Federal Minister for Planning Ahsan Iqbal said that mineral development is being given central importance in the second phase of CPEC to transform connectivity into productive capacity, exports, and long term economic growth. He added that Gwadar will serve as a key gateway linking mineral rich regions with global markets. He noted that Pakistan has 92 types of minerals, of which 52 are currently being mined, but exports remain low because most minerals are exported in raw or semi processed form.

He said that through modern technology, value addition, and the establishment of mineral processing plants, Pakistan can turn its mineral wealth into industrial strength. He described the Nokundi to Gwadar corridor as a vital project to connect Balochistan’s mineral belt with the port.

Federal Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik said that global energy transition is increasing demand for copper and other critical minerals, and with Chinese cooperation, Pakistan can become a reliable partner in the global supply chain.

Federal Minister for Investment Qaiser Ahmed Sheikh said that the government is offering incentives and an easy business environment for investors in Special Economic Zones. The Chinese ambassador reaffirmed China’s commitment to continued cooperation with Pakistan in mineral sector investment, skills development, and the promotion of modern technology.
