The privatization process of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has entered its next phase, and according to officials, after the transfer of management control to a private consortium, the government now has the option to sell its remaining 25 percent shareholding within three months, which is valued at approximately Rs45 billion.
PIA officials said the airline is now operating under a new ownership structure, in which the government retains a 25 percent stake, while 75 percent management control rests with a private sector consortium led by the Arif Habib Group, which has taken over operational control.
Officials said the airline’s current fleet consists of 18 aircraft, of which 12 are on lease while six are company-owned and undergoing necessary maintenance. They noted that the existing fleet is insufficient for network expansion and that additional
