The Government of Pakistan has allowed the national team to play against India in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, and Pakistan will now play the scheduled match against India on February 15.
According to an official statement, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif was formally briefed by Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Mohsin Raza Naqvi on the outcome of high level discussions held between the PCB, representatives of the International Cricket Council, and the Bangladesh Cricket Board. The Government of Pakistan reviewed formal requests submitted to the PCB by the Bangladesh Cricket Board, along with consultations held with Sri Lanka, the United Arab Emirates, and other member countries. The correspondence sought workable solutions to the challenges recently faced under Pakistan’s leadership.
The Government of Pakistan welcomed the statement by Bangladesh Cricket Board President Mr Amin Islam and warmly acknowledged the expression of gratitude from brotherly country Bangladesh. Pakistan reaffirmed that it stands shoulder to shoulder with Bangladesh.
As a result of multilateral dialogue and consultations, the government has directed Pakistan’s national cricket team to take the field as per its scheduled fixture in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup on February 15, 2026. The decision was taken to uphold the spirit of cricket, support the continuity of the global game, and in the interest of all participating nations. Pakistan revised its decision in response to requests from the ICC and friendly countries.
