Effective Customs Enforcement Boosts Legal Imports of Fuel, Textiles, and Tyres

Effective customs enforcement has led to an increase in the legal import of petroleum products, textiles, and tyres.

According to sources, FBR Member Customs Operations Syed Shakeel Shah said that due to improved customs enforcement, legal imports of petroleum products, garments, and tyres have increased. Addressing a ceremony held at Customs House Karachi on the occasion of World Customs Day, he stated that in line with the FBR’s Transformation Plan, the Customs Department is carrying out its responsibilities through infrastructure reforms.

He said that the introduction of the faceless assessment system has reduced clearance delays and improved transparency and efficiency. He added that smuggling is being curbed through digital enforcement systems and other reforms.

The Member Customs Operations further said that Pakistan Customs is introducing technology in line with international standards. He noted that Customs has achieved key milestones through the Pakistan Single Window (PSW) and the faceless system, which have improved overall operational performance.
