FBR Suspends Six Officials for Absence from Sugar Mill Monitoring Duties

The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has suspended six officials who were absent from their monitoring duties at sugar mills.

According to FBR sources, disciplinary action was taken against six officials found absent without permission from their assigned monitoring duties at sugar mills, and they were immediately suspended. This step is part of the FBR’s zero-tolerance policy against negligence in official duties.

Reports indicate that these officials were assigned under Section 40B of the Sales Tax Act, 1990, to ensure effective, transparent, and uninterrupted monitoring of sugar production. FBR sources stated that their absence was discovered during routine monitoring conducted by the Large Tax Office (LTO) Lahore. Due to the seriousness of the negligence and dereliction of duty, LTO Lahore recommended initiating disciplinary proceedings against the concerned officials under the prevailing rules and regulations.

To ensure accountability and prevent any potential disruption in the monitoring process, orders were issued for the immediate suspension of these officials.
