Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar met China’s Executive Vice Premier Ding Xuexiang in Beijing yesterday. During the meeting, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthen the Pakistan China all weather strategic partnership.
According to reports, Ishaq Dar held meetings with Ding Xuexiang and other Chinese officials in Beijing. They discussed bilateral relations and ways to deepen cooperation between the two countries. Vice Premier Ding Xuexiang praised Pakistan’s consistent support for China on matters related to its key national interests.
Both leaders stressed the importance of the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and China and agreed to use this milestone to create a future focused vision for better cooperation, especially under the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). The Chinese Vice Premier also extended New Year greetings to the leadership and people of Pakistan.
According to sources, Ishaq Dar also met Liu Haixing, Minister of the International Department of the Communist Party of China. He congratulated Minister Liu on the successful holding of the fourth plenary session of the 20th CPC Central Committee.
Both sides reviewed party to party exchanges, the regional situation, and the progress of various CPEC projects. They expressed satisfaction over the stable and forward looking direction of bilateral relations. The two leaders also agreed to jointly celebrate the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and China in a meaningful and dignified manner.
Ishaq Dar, who is in Beijing on the invitation of China’s Foreign Minister, was received at the airport by China’s Special Representative for Afghanistan, Ambassador Yue Xiaoyong, Pakistan’s Ambassador to China, and officials of the Pakistan Embassy.
