From January 1, entry of vehicles without M-Tag will be prohibited in Islamabad: Mohsin Naqvi
According to sources, the Interior Minister made this announcement while directing to expedite work on the Capital Smart City project. On this occasion, the Minister of State for Interior, Talal Chaudhry, was also present with him.
Mohsin Naqvi described the Capital Smart City project as an exemplary initiative, stating that its aim is to make Islamabad the safest city in the country. He explained that under this project, all key urban facilities—including Rescue 1122, traffic management, and security—will be integrated into a centralized and coordinated system.
The Interior Minister also expressed the commitment that the Smart City concept will be expanded to cover the entire country in the future. He said Islamabad will become Pakistan’s first smart city and requested a comprehensive plan to transform Islamabad Safe City into the Capital Smart City.
On the occasion, the Inspector General of Islamabad Police gave a detailed briefing on the challenges and complexities faced in the project’s development. The Interior Minister also reviewed the monitoring system in the control room and inspected the security arrangements at the special Chinese desk.
