Major Operation Against Illegal Currency Exchange in Karachi: 7 Million in Local and Foreign Currency Recovered

According to an FIA spokesperson, 1.5 million Pakistani rupees and 5 mobile phones were also seized from the suspect.

The FIA State Bank Circle Karachi conducted a major operation and arrested a suspect involved in illegal currency exchange.

The spokesperson stated that the suspect, identified as Muhammad Akbar, was arrested red-handed in the Sohrab Goth area of Karachi along with foreign currency. During the arrest, local and foreign currency worth 7 million rupees was recovered from his possession.

The recovered currency included 13,000 US dollars, 8,000 Saudi riyals, 1,556 UAE dirhams, 7,000 Indonesian rupiah, 1,000 Yemeni riyals, 318 Omani riyals, and 305 Chinese yuan. In addition, 174,610 Afghanis, euros, Iraqi dinars, Turkish liras, and 4 million Iranian rials were also recovered.

According to the FIA, 1.5 million Pakistani rupees and 5 mobile phones were also taken into custody, along with records related to the currency exchange business. The suspect had been running an illegal currency exchange without any license and failed to provide satisfactory answers regarding the recovered currency. An investigation has been launched against him.
