The government has decided to launch an AI-based application in Islamabad from January as a pilot project to curb illegal immigration.
The decision was made during a special meeting chaired by Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Federal Minister for Overseas Pakistanis Chaudhry Salik Hussain.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi said that through this AI app, authorities will be able to determine in advance which passengers are eligible to travel and which are not.
He added that once the passports of deported individuals are cancelled, the system will ensure that such individuals are not issued visas again. The meeting also reviewed measures related to illegal immigrants and individuals possessing inadequate documentation.
E-driving licences, protector stamps, and immigration matters were discussed in detail.
Mohsin Naqvi further stated that the National Police Bureau will issue uniform international driving licences and that there will be zero tolerance against fake visas and agent mafias.
He said that the government is in contact with other countries to improve the ranking of the Pakistani passport.
He added that people attempting to travel abroad through illegal means damage the country’s reputation and ordered strict action against passengers travelling with fake documents.
During the meeting, the Minister for Overseas Pakistanis said that the ministry will fully cooperate to improve protector and immigration systems.
