Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and the President of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, on Friday emphasized the importance of enhancing cooperation in the fields of economic collaboration, investment, energy, infrastructure development, IT, technology, and people-to-people contacts.
The discussion took place during a meeting between President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who arrived in Islamabad on his first official visit to Pakistan. According to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), both leaders also agreed on the need to increase bilateral trade, which holds strong potential for mutually beneficial growth.
The meeting included discussions on further strengthening the long-standing fraternal relations between Pakistan and the UAE. Both leaders reviewed the progress made in ongoing cooperation and explored opportunities to deepen partnerships across various sectors. According to the PMO, they also exchanged views on important regional and international issues and reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining close coordination on matters of mutual interest. Expressing satisfaction with the positive direction of bilateral relations, they reiterated their resolve to continue working together to achieve shared goals of peace, stability, and sustainable development.
Earlier, President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed arrived in Islamabad at the invitation of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, accompanied by a high-level delegation comprising ministers and senior officials. At Nur Khan Air Base, the Prime Minister, Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir received the distinguished guest.
The UAE President was accorded a grand welcome. JF-17 fighter jets escorted the royal aircraft upon its entry into Pakistani airspace, while a 21-gun salute and a guard of honor were also presented.
At the conclusion of the visit, the UAE President departed for his homeland. Meanwhile, the Government of Pakistan also released a special welcome song on the occasion, reflecting the long-standing friendship and brotherly relations between Pakistan and the UAE.
