Iron and steel scrap imports have surged to their highest level since November 2021, reflecting renewed momentum and recovery in the construction and steel industries.
According to the data, Pakistan imported 381,991 metric tons of iron and steel scrap in October 2025 — the largest volume recorded since November 2021, when imports reached 464,415 metric tons.
Industry experts say this recovery indicates strengthening positive trends in the real economy, supported by public-sector development projects and the gradual revival of construction activity in the private sector.
It is worth noting that Pakistan’s Large Scale Manufacturing (LSM) sector recorded 4.08% growth in the first quarter of FY 2025–26 and showed a 2.69% year-on-year increase in September 2025
