Pakistan’s Seafood Exports to China Increase by 24 Percent
Pakistan’s exports of seafood to China recorded a 24 percent increase during the period from January to November 2025, reaching a value of approximately 235.7 million US dollars in the first eleven months of 2025, compared to 188.95 million US dollars during the same period in 2024.
According to data from China’s General Administration of Customs (GACC), sources from Pakistan’s Ministry of Commerce stated that this significant increase reflects the growing demand in the Chinese market for high-quality seafood products. Major exported seafood items include frozen fish—such as anchovies, mackerel, and squid—which saw a substantial rise in value. Frozen fish exports increased from 46 million US dollars in 2024 to over 57 million US dollars in 2025, playing a key role in the overall growth.
Similarly, exports of fresh shrimp reached 31.93 million US dollars from January to November 2025, compared to 27.77 million US dollars during the same period last year. According to China Economic Net, exports of frozen cuttlefish and squid increased to 24.7 million US dollars, up from 23.8 million US dollars in the corresponding period of the previous year.
Officials stated that improved trade relations between China and Pakistan—particularly under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC)—have streamlined logistics, reduced shipping times, and ensured a steady supply. Improvements in Pakistan’s seafood processing capabilities, which ensure compliance with China’s strict food safety standards, have further strengthened Pakistan’s position as a reliable supplier of quality seafood. With these factors in place, Pakistan’s seafood exports are expected to grow further.
