Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Suhail Afridi, during which they discussed aligning federal and provincial strategies on national security and regional development.
According to a handout issued by the Prime Minister’s Office, the Prime Minister termed cooperation between the federal government and the province essential for restoring law and order. He urged the provincial government to intensify efforts against terrorism and to strengthen local security institutions to ensure peace.
The Prime Minister’s Office said that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reaffirmed the commitment of both the federal and provincial governments to continue joint efforts for the complete elimination of terrorism. He stressed that the provincial government must fulfill its constitutional responsibilities regarding public welfare and security.
While acknowledging the autonomy of the provincial government, the Prime Minister emphasized the need for concrete measures in the areas of public health and education. He reiterated that the federal government has always remained committed to the development of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and described the province as an integral part of the federation.
The Prime Minister further highlighted that close coordination and effective communication between the federation and the provinces are vital for national development and public service. He assured that the federal government would provide full support within its mandate for development projects in the province, improvement of infrastructure, and the promotion of education, health, and employment opportunities.
Shehbaz Sharif said that the federal government is pursuing a vision of balanced development and that the goals of national unity, stability, and prosperity can be achieved effectively through mutual consultation and cooperation.
