PSRM (Private) Limited and K-Electric have signed an agreement to establish a dedicated distribution system comprising a 132kV grid station and transmission line in Gharo.
According to a press release issued by K-Electric, this project will ensure 15MW of reliable and efficient power supply to support the growth of the local steel industry.
The company stated that the new grid station is being developed to enhance power resilience, improve operational efficiency, and support future electrification of the steel sector, in line with the companies’ shared commitment to sustainability, reliability, and innovation.
The press release highlighted that under K-Electric’s mission to provide high-quality and reliable electricity solutions for sustainable industrial growth, this partnership will meet the increasing energy demand of the steel sector and support the rising supply of locally produced steel products.
Saadia Dada, Chief Distribution & Marcoms Officer at K-Electric, said that each industry has unique operational requirements, and a proactive approach involves investing in customized grid infrastructure tailored to specific standards and future needs. This allows the company to deliver efficient, stable, and purpose-driven electricity.
