The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) opened Wednesday’s trading session in the positive zone, with the benchmark KSE-100 Index gaining more than 400 points within the first few minutes of trading.
By midday, the benchmark index was up by 431.35 points, or 0.25 percent, reaching 170,878.64 points. Buying interest was observed in key sectors including cement, commercial banks, fertilizers, oil and gas exploration companies, oil marketing companies (OMCs), power generation companies, and refineries. Shares of ARL, Mari, POL, SNGPL, HBL, MEBL, NBP, and UBL were trading in positive territory.
It is worth noting that on Tuesday, the KSE-100 Index had closed at 170,447.30 points, down by 294.05 points or 0.17 percent.
On the global front, mixed trends were seen in international stock markets on Wednesday. Broader markets showed a gradual increase in share prices, while the MSCI Asia-Pacific Index excluding Japan rose by 0.24 percent, largely supported by gains in Chinese markets. Japan’s Nikkei Index also closed 0.35 percent higher.
Reports indicated that following a mixed cash session on Wall Street, Nasdaq and S&P 500 futures remained largely stable.
