In the interbank market, the Pakistani rupee continued to gain against the US dollar on Friday as well. The rupee appreciated by 9 paisas, or 0.03 percent, reaching 279.87 per dollar. It is worth noting that on Thursday, the local currency had closed at 279.96 per dollar.
On the other hand, at the global level, the US dollar continued its upward trend for the third consecutive week on Friday. According to reports, the dollar index remained largely unchanged at 99.36 and appeared to be heading toward a 0.2 percent weekly gain. The euro remained stable at $1.1607.
Meanwhile, the Japanese yen strengthened by 0.05 percent against the US dollar, reaching 158.58 yen per dollar; however, overall it is expected to record a decline of nearly 0.5 percent for the week.
