Standing Committee Meeting Reveals Corruption in Sindh Solar Energy Project

According to sources, the Standing Committee on Economic Affairs was informed that the Rs27 billion solar energy project in Sindh had witnessed financial irregularities worth billions of rupees. It is noteworthy that under the NGO initiative, solar panels were provided to poor and deserving individuals.

Sources said that the committee chairman, Senator Saifullah Abro, revealed that a solar panel available in the market for Rs21,000 was purchased for Rs60,000.

Additionally, in a session of the National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Human Rights, concerns were raised about rising drug use among women. Chairperson Nousheen Iftikhar stated that drugs like ice are contributing to divorce, murder, and suicide incidents. Member Asia Naz Tanoli disclosed that white chocolate–like drugs are being used by girls and expressed her readiness to provide evidence.

Sources further reported that the committee unanimously approved the Islamabad Capital Territory Senior Citizens Amendment Bill 2025.

In the Standing Committee on Industry and Production, detailed discussions were held regarding complaints of theft and corruption at Pakistan Steel Mills, as well as issues related to vehicles of Proton Company.
