FIA Punishes 271 Officers, 88 Dismissed in Major Anti Corruption Drive

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has punished 271 officers for corruption, misconduct, and abuse of authority.

According to sources, an FIA statement said that on the instructions of Director General FIA Rifat Mukhtar Raja, an internal accountability process is underway in the department. The Directorate of International Accountability handed down punishments to a total of 271 personnel during 2025.

The statement said that 88 officers and staff involved in corruption, violation of discipline, and misuse of authority were dismissed from service. These included 2 deputy directors, 6 assistant directors, 13 inspectors, and 20 sub inspectors. Other dismissed staff included 5 assistant sub inspectors, 13 head constables, 20 constables, and 9 members of the ministerial staff.

According to the FIA statement, during 2025, 1 assistant sub inspector, 2 constables, and 2 ministerial staff members were removed from service, while 10 personnel were given demotion penalties. In addition, during 2025, 1 deputy director, 2 assistant directors, 2 inspectors, 1 sub inspector, 3 head constables, and 1 constable were also demoted.

Meanwhile, 168 officers and staff were given minor penalties, including stoppage of promotion.

DG FIA Rifat Mukhtar Raja said that the purpose of departmental accountability is to ensure strict compliance with legal and professional standards, and that any form of corruption or misuse of authority will not be tolerated. He added that there is no place in the FIA for officials involved in corruption, negligence, or poor investigations. A strict accountability process is continuing to rid the department of corruption and bad elements. He further said that tough action is being taken against officials involved in illegal activities, and that only through accountability can human smuggling and corruption be eliminated, while negligent officers will be given proper punishment.
