Federal Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb has said that the recent report on Pakistan issued by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) was prepared at the request of the federal government itself.
He said, “We initiated this report, and we also facilitated all discussions held in this regard.”
According to him, nearly 100 meetings were held for this purpose, with more than 30 institutions participating. The report covers seven key topics.
He stated that this is a technical report aimed at moving toward institutional reforms, as the country is currently undergoing structural reforms. The report also identifies structural weaknesses that have persisted for decades.
According to the finance minister, the report includes the progress made over the past 18 months, and the IMF has also acknowledged the improvements made in various sectors.
He added that an action plan addressing structural weaknesses will be shared with all stakeholders.
In addition, the House also approved a resolution presented by PPP Senator Talha Mahmood, calling on the government to provide appropriate relief packages and compensation to families affected by the 2025 floods.
