Kyrgyz President Japarov Arrives in Pakistan Today on PM Shehbaz’s Invitation

Kyrgyzstan’s President Sadyr Japarov will visit Pakistan on Wednesday (today), following an invitation extended by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

According to the Foreign Office (FO), the last visit of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic to Pakistan took place in January 2005.
The FO stated that this visit reflects the brotherly ties between Pakistan and Kyrgyzstan, built on shared aspirations for peace and prosperity in Central and South Asia.

The visit is expected to give new momentum to bilateral cooperation and strengthen collaboration at regional and multilateral forums.

President Japarov will be accompanied by a high-level delegation including senior cabinet ministers, top officials, and business leaders.

His expected schedule includes a meeting with President Asif Ali Zardari and delegation-level talks with the Prime Minister.

According to FO sources, both sides will conduct a comprehensive review of bilateral relations and explore new opportunities to enhance cooperation in various sectors, including trade, energy, defense, education, people-to-people exchanges, and regional connectivity. President Japarov will also address the Pakistan-Kyrgyzstan Business Forum.

Sources further revealed that Pakistan and Kyrgyzstan are prepared to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance cooperation in the energy sector. Ministers from both countries will sign the agreement, which aims to promote bilateral collaboration in electricity-related affairs.

It may be noted that on 29 November 2025, the federal cabinet approved the MoU between the energy ministries of both countries.
