Mari Energies Limited announced on Monday the discovery of gas from the Tabri-1 well drilled in the Kalchas South Block, located in Dera Bugti district of Balochistan.
According to available information, the company said in a notice sent to the stock exchange that the Kalchas South joint venture consists of United Energy Pakistan Limited (UEPL) as the operator with a 46 percent working interest, Mari Energies Limited with a 44 percent working interest, and Dewan Petroleum (Private) Limited (DPL) with a 10 percent share.
The notice stated that Tabri-1 is the first exploratory well drilled in the Kalchas South Block. Drilling began on November 11, 2025, and the well was drilled to a depth of 7,170 feet.
Initial testing of the Dungan/Sui Main Limestone (SML) formation showed a gas flow rate of 11 million standard cubic feet per day (MMSCFD) at a 64/64 inch choke, with a wellhead flowing pressure (WHFP) of 561 psig. At a 32/64 inch choke, the gas flow rate was recorded at 6.5 MMSCFD with a WHFP of 1,161 psig. Further testing is under way to fully assess the well’s production potential.
Sources said that after acquiring the working interest from Dewan Petroleum (DPL) in July 2023, the joint venture resumed exploration activities, which led to the discovery of gas at the Tabri-1 well.
