Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates have agreed to introduce a pre-immigration clearance system under which Pakistani passengers will be able to complete immigration procedures before departure.
According to sources, this development emerged during a meeting held on Tuesday between UAE Director General Customs and Port Security Ahmed bin Lahej Al Falasi and Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi. During the meeting, detailed discussions were held on Pakistan–UAE relations, bilateral cooperation, and simplifying immigration procedures for passengers.
Sources said both sides agreed to sign a formal agreement regarding pre-immigration clearance between Pakistan and the UAE. The system will initially be launched as a pilot project, with Karachi selected as the first location.
On the occasion, Mohsin Naqvi stated that under the pre-immigration clearance system, immigration and all related clearance procedures will be completed in Pakistan. He added that once the system is implemented, passengers arriving in the UAE will not have to go through lengthy immigration processes and will be able to exit the airport directly like local travelers.
This initiative will make travel more convenient, save time, and improve the overall passenger experience. The UAE delegation termed the initiative beneficial for the people of both countries and expressed readiness to provide full cooperation in this regard.
