The government has approved the launch of a ferry service between Gwadar and Oman, marking a major step forward in regional connectivity and creating strong investment opportunities in the maritime sector.
Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Muhammad Junaid Anwar Chaudhry announced that the federal cabinet has formally approved the Gwadar–Oman ferry route. He stated that both countries will soon sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish this ferry link.
According to the minister, a high-level Omani delegation will visit Pakistan soon to finalize operational arrangements for the service. The launch of the Gwadar–Oman ferry is expected to significantly increase bilateral trade volume and open new avenues for investment.
He added that the new route will not only make travel easier for Pakistani expatriates but will also promote tourism, cultural exchange, and people-to-people connectivity.
Furthermore, the minister noted that establishing new maritime corridors will help regional countries gain better access to Central Asian markets. He said the ferry service will stimulate economic activity in Gwadar and help the port emerge as a major hub for trade in the region.
The minister expressed confidence that the successful implementation of this project will further strengthen economic cooperation between Pakistan and Oman.
