Advisers to Pakistan’s Army Chief, Field Marshal Asim Munir, have reportedly approached U.S. officials with a strategic investment proposal to build and operate a port on the Arabian Sea. The plan involves American investors developing and managing a terminal in the coastal town of Pasni — located in Gwadar District, Balochistan, near the borders of Afghanistan and Iran. This initiative aims to provide the U.S. with access to Pakistan’s rich reserves of critical minerals, positioning Pasni as a key maritime hub.
The proposal follows a high-profile meeting held at the White House in September, where Field Marshal Asim Munir and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met U.S. President Donald Trump. During the meeting, Sharif invited American companies to invest in Pakistan’s agriculture, technology, mining, and energy sectors, signaling Islamabad’s intent to strengthen economic and strategic ties with Washington.
