Pakistan, Saudi Arabia Discuss Investment and Tech Talent Cooperation at AlUla Conference

According to sources, Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb and Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Economy and Planning, Faisal bin Fadhil Alibrahim, discussed cooperation between Islamabad and Riyadh in investment and technology talent.

The development took place during a meeting between Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb and Saudi Minister Faisal bin Fadhil Alibrahim on the sidelines of the AlUla Conference for Emerging Market Economies 2026 in Saudi Arabia. Both sides discussed Saudi investment in Pakistan and follow up matters related to bilateral economic cooperation.

Sources said the Saudi minister highlighted Pakistan’s high quality artificial intelligence and technology talent, noting that it ranks among the best of its kind globally. He said Saudi Arabia is keen to benefit from Pakistani tech talent to lead and support the ongoing technological transformation in the Kingdom. He also referred to remarks by American businessman and former Google CEO Eric Schmidt, who has similarly acknowledged the capability and strength of Pakistani technology professionals.

Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb said Pakistan is planning to establish an organized system to supply skilled human resources to key international markets, including Saudi Arabia, in order to create economic benefits for both sides.

The Saudi minister also mentioned progress on the GCC Free Trade Agreement and stressed the priority of expanding trade and exchanges with Pakistan. Muhammad Aurangzeb assured that Pakistani teams are actively leading efforts to finalize Saudi Arabia’s investment commitments in Pakistan.

The finance minister appreciated the Saudi government for hosting a strong and strategically important conference for emerging market economies and thanked Faisal bin Fadhil Alibrahim for Saudi Arabia’s continued commitment to Pakistan’s economy.
