PM Shehbaz Announces Plan to Send Thousands of Skilled Pakistani Workers to Saudi Arabia

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has announced that Pakistan plans to send thousands of labourers, skilled workers, and professionals to Saudi Arabia to enhance employment opportunities and strengthen the country’s contribution to the global workforce.

The Prime Minister made this announcement while addressing the launch ceremony of Phase 4 of the Prime Minister’s Youth Laptop Scheme 2025. He shared that during his recent visit to Saudi Arabia, discussions on artificial intelligence and advanced technologies took place, during which the Kingdom expressed strong interest in Pakistan’s skilled human resources.

He stated that he is committed to creating maximum opportunities for Pakistani youth to work in Saudi Arabia, especially as the Kingdom prepares for major global events. Saudi Arabia requires highly trained staff for key projects linked to the Expo 2030 and the FIFA World Cup 2034.

Praising Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s Vision 2030, the Prime Minister said the initiative would create countless opportunities for Pakistanis. He added that Pakistani diplomats and officials are engaged in detailed and positive discussions with Saudi authorities, and further announcements are expected soon.

He expressed optimism that good news will follow, revealing that Saudi Arabia plans to provide free training in artificial intelligence and technology to millions of Pakistanis.

During his speech, the Prime Minister also highlighted the Youth Laptop Scheme 2025, under which 100,000 laptops will be distributed nationwide on a merit basis.

The program, which began in 2011, represents a multibillion-rupee investment in Pakistan’s educational future. He emphasized that today’s era is driven by technology and artificial intelligence, and the government is committed to giving students the tools they need to make Pakistan self-reliant.

He clarified that this year’s delay in launching the scheme occurred due to the inclusion of an unnecessary promotional logo, which has now been removed to maintain transparency.

Concluding his address, the Prime Minister reiterated his commitment to Pakistan’s youth, stating that this is only the beginning, and investments in students’ education and development will continue well beyond his tenure.
