The Pakistan Peoples Party’s (PPP) Central Executive Committee (CEC) late Thursday night strongly rejected the proposed changes to the National Finance Commission (NFC) Award formula.
Addressing a joint press conference alongside Senate Chairman Yousaf Raza Gillani and other senior PPP leaders, Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari announced that the party firmly rejects the proposed amendments to the NFC formula.
The PPP’s CEC meeting was convened to discuss and decide on key matters related to the proposed 27th Constitutional Amendment.
Speaking at the press conference, Bilawal Bhutto said that the CEC has approved the amendment proposed under Article 243 of the Constitution.
He added that the party has rejected all other proposed constitutional amendments. Regarding the proposed Constitutional Court, Bilawal stated that a final decision will be taken in the CEC meeting scheduled for Friday after Jumuah prayers.
The meeting was co-chaired by President Asif Ali Zardari and Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, and attended by the Chief Ministers of Sindh and Balochistan, as well as the Governors of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Gilgit-Baltistan.
