Reaffirms Full Support for China on Sovereignty and Territorial Integrity

The Foreign Office has stated that Pakistan fully supports China on matters related to sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Foreign Office spokesperson Ambassador Tahir Hussain Andrabi, during the weekly media briefing, defended Pakistan’s decision to close the trade border with Afghanistan. Regarding humanitarian aid to Afghanistan, the spokesperson said Pakistan has approved the release of UN humanitarian supplies upon the request of UN agencies including the World Food Programme, UNICEF, and UNFPA.

Responding to a question, the spokesperson said that closing the border in self-defense is justified. He said that if border security guards are martyred or trade posts are destroyed due to firing from the other side, Pakistan is permitted to close the border in self-defense. Under international law, this is legal.

Tahir Hussain Andrabi rejected speculation about alleged talks with the Afghan Taliban government in Saudi Arabia. He criticized India for delaying flight clearance for Pakistan’s humanitarian aid destined for Sri Lanka, calling India’s action contrary to the urgent needs of a country facing an exceptional disaster.

Responding to questions about Chinese statements on Zangnan—known in India as Arunachal Pradesh—the spokesperson said Pakistan fully supports China on matters relating to sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Marking 33 years since the demolition of the Babri Mosque, Ambassador Andrabi described it as an incident that continues to cause deep sorrow and concern. He said it remains a symbol of the dignity of Indian Muslims and requires the international community to ensure the protection of Muslim religious heritage. He urged India to uphold tolerance, inclusion, and equal citizenship rights for all religious minorities.

Regarding media reports in Afghanistan and Pakistan claiming talks between Islamabad and the Afghan Taliban government in Saudi Arabia, the spokesperson said there is no information to confirm such meetings. He emphasized that Pakistan will share details when credible information becomes available.
